Dry April?

By Glenn Kirby, Technical Manager at Syngenta

I talk to a lot of Turf managers and I’ve regularly heard this month just how dry it’s been.

The below chart shows how it’s been an interesting month as rainfall hasn’t been average but significantly wetter or dryer than the “average year” dependent on your location.

But of course, rainfall is only part of the picture, evapotranspiration plays a large part in the drying out process. Whilst this doesn’t vary as much as rainfall can it does start ramping up through April.

The below GIF shows how the month has evolved and which areas of the country are dryer and wetter.

On the back of a dry 2018 a dry spring is the last thing turf managers wanted. Wetting agents have a key role to play here. Make sure you’re in control.
